Favorite Thing to Do Outside of Work: I like to exercise, often by walking my dog while listening to podcasts. My wife and I also like to travel to visit friends and family in the Northeast and Midwest.
I usually start work at about 8:30 a.m., though I am up at about 7 a.m. to complete a few errands and grab a cup of coffee before commuting into the office.
Often times, I start the day by answering a few emails and enjoying my cup of coffee. I work with CTG employees located across the county and in Western Europe, so I usually have an email or two to process right away. On the way into work, I try to make a mental checklist of tasks to tackle during the morning so I meet my various deadlines and stay focused.
In the afternoons, I am usually working on larger projects, typically proposals or sales presentations. However, I am often multitasking, answering requests from CTG’s sales teams or working with the Global Marketing Team on various time-sensitive projects.
Right after work, I like to exercise. I go to a local boxing training gym, which is a good way to unwind from the workday. On nice days, I will take my dog for walk in the “Olmsted” park located near my house (if you ever visit Buffalo, make sure to visit one of the city’s beautiful parks designed by Frederick Law Olmsted). For dinner, my wife or I typically cook, and we have been recently trying mail-order meal plans―with mixed results. During the fall and winter, I enjoy watching football or Buffalo’s NHL team, the Sabres.
At CTG, I really enjoy working on a wide range of projects within the Global Marketing Department and with our sales teams. In any given week, I will work on a proposal for one service line and a presentation for a new offering. This variety fosters creativity and collaboration while offering many opportunities to learn something new or work with interesting and energetic people. I also think this leads to employees finding different paths throughout their careers with CTG and getting to take on different responsibilities as their understanding of the company grows and evolves. This is exemplified by my father, who retired in 2014 after more than 36 years with CTG; he began as a billable engineer and followed his passion for problem solving to a management position within CTG’s staffing organization.
Thanks to the many long-tenured employees at CTG, the corporate culture is consistently supportive throughout the company, even though employees are spread across the country and globe. This culture makes for a workplace where every idea is welcomed and everyone is encouraged to draft and present ideas.
