My name is Noor. I live in Leuven and work as a Data Privacy Consultant for CTG.
In my current client project, I am a member of the data protection compliance team of a big international company. With this team, we support the implementation of the organization’s compliance program.
So what do my working days look like? Well, this is how I start my day: when I arrive at work in the morning, the first thing I do is check my personal inbox and the inbox of the team. If anything urgent comes up, that will be the first thing to tackle in the morning.
The job of a Data Privacy Consultant includes many different tasks. I will name a few to give you an idea: I interview points of contact and help them finalise their records of processing, assess the compliance of the processing of personal data with the current data protection legislation and carry out risk and impact analyses. In addition, I have an advisory role in which I answer data protection specific questions.
Furthermore, my client gives me the opportunity to work on compliance documents and templates, such as templates for data processing agreements that are made accessible to employees within the organization. I also regularly receive requests to give data protection training. So as you can see: a lot of different roles and tasks! I am very lucky to have such a versatile and challenging job as a data privacy consultant.
I am grateful to work at CTG. CTG is an internationally respected company with great values and gives me the opportunity to grow and expand my knowledge in data protection. I recently got the opportunity to get a CIPM certificate, issued by IAPP. Even in times of a pandemic, I feel strengthened by my employer. I regularly receive a phone call from my direct manager to check on the way I am supported in working from home during these bizarre times, but there is also a check on my own well-being. This proves to me that CTG’s management has an eye and a genuine interest for its employees. CTG really is a Great Place to Work.
What do I do when I am not working? Well you can find me in many different spots. I participate in a HII (High Intensity Interval) training at least once a week. I like to go out for a drink and a bite with my boyfriend or with friends, train my digital sketching techniques on my tablet or watch TV at night. In the weekends, I still set my alarm at 7 AM on Saturdays, since I am taking a goldsmith course every Saturday morning. This is a four-year course and I am already halfway. The rest of the weekend, I like to go out for a walk in Leuven, make a bike tour with my boyfriend or visit our family.
