CellGate is a leading manufacturer of remote gate access control systems for single-family homes, multi-tenant buildings,
office/commercial properties, farms/ranches/hunting leases, oil/gas properties, and self-storage facilities, with headquarters in Texas. Their access control and monitoring system allow property owners to monitor and regulate who enters and exits their property and maintain detailed records, including photographs, of every entrance.
The Challenge and Opportunity
The client’s business model is subscription-based, with property owners worldwide purchasing gate devices and paying a monthly fee to continue using the system. The client observed the following method to increase property safety and security:
- Creating unique access codes for visitors who visit the property.
- Providing access through video calls from gate devices to the property owner.
- Examining entry activity logs.
- Controlling gate access via smartphone.
Due to the complexities involved and networking challenges when connecting to the server, property owners could not get notification calls on time when someone entered their gates. To address this issue, the client wanted a single maintenance portal with high scalability and availability for all accounts and devices. They also wanted to automate firmware changes for all devices, as the current approach was time-consuming and tedious.
The Solution and Results
CTG's extensive background in cloud transformation enabled it to work closely with the client’s technical team to build a cloud migration plan for the new all-in-one platform that incorporated the best features of Microsoft Azure.
The client also desired to create a new product category to empower its customers. The LoRaWAN Protocol was used to operate this particular series of devices. It was based on wireless technology. CTG assisted the client in selecting compatible LoRaWAN devices and went above and beyond to help the client introduce a new product in their business quickly. Eleviant set up multi-cloud integration combining AWS and Microsoft Azure to modernize the client application. A few of its salient features are:
- Auto Scaling
- Microservice Architecture
- Application Monitoring
- Automatic Deployment
- Serverless Compute – Logic Apps, Functions, and Event Grid
- AWS IoT Core for LoRaWAN supported devices –Multi-Cloud Approach
