CTG Announces Digital Training Offerings to Help Companies Address IT Challenges - IT solutions firm launches summer classes to teach basic testing skills
CTG, a leading provider of information technology (IT) solutions and services in North America and Western Europe, announced today the launch of their CTG Testing Summer School (https://summerschool.ctg.com) program designed to teach all employees - from HR managers to accountants - the basic skills necessary to test IT systems and software programs. Digitalization in companies has increased rapidly in recent years, leading to frustrations across an organization from the lack of testing skills.
In order to address some of these frustrations, companies are increasingly looking for opportunities to drive efficiencies and simplify business processes through the application of IT systems. System implementation and application do not always run as smoothly as planned for employees or the consumer. The need for non-IT professionals who can test new digital processes is increasing.
CTG designed their Summer School program, a series of quick, low-threshold testing training courses, to help reduce the pressure on the scarce number of professionals that companies rely on to first prevent and then solve IT problems, and address the skill refresh needs of IT students and professionals. The Summer School series will be offered virtually from the end of June until the beginning of September.
"From the invoicing system to the office scheduling planning tool, everything is digital today. It's critical that team members – also beyond IT - understand how everything works. Errors in a system are often quite easy to detect and are far cheaper to fix in advance by following a few standard steps. If the engine oil light in your car is on, you don't go to the garage every time to fill up the engine oil, do you? Similarly, we should not have to go to the IT expert every time to solve an IT-related problem," said Michaël Pilaeten, CTG's Learning and Development Manager.
40% fewer IT training courses
Pilaeten further explained, "CTG has noted that companies drastically cut their budgets for IT training as a result of the Coronavirus crisis. In 2020, CTG Academy, our training business unit, received 40% fewer training requests than the year prior. We believe that by making these summer classes accessible to all employees by lowering the threshold for learning about testing, we will encourage increased overall training in this critical area for every organization."
The courses offered through CTG's Testing Summer School series are not just meant for those new to testing. Courses are designed to refresh the insights of IT professionals and sharpen the testing skills of IT students. To further support student training, CTG has also entered into partnerships with colleges and universities in support of their IT curriculum.
Pilaeten continued, "Software testing is still at times not given the strategic attention and staffing necessary. Staff training and organizational testing work efforts suffer as a result. Although the impacts from the absence of adequate testing can be significant, there are standard protocols and methodologies that an organization can implement that will ensure quick and efficient accuracy checks before a new software or app is rolled out. Through these low-threshold courses, we believe that software testing will begin to get the attention it deserves and that companies will expand their thinking about who is involved in this kind of testing and changes in business processes."
