In Remembrance of CTG Co-Founder G. David Baer
It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of CTG’s co-founder G. David Baer this Tuesday, August 21. For those that knew him, David will be remembered as an intelligent, passionate, committed individual with a quick smile. He was always ready for a conversation and was dedicated to CTG since its founding more than 50 years ago.
Together with Randy Marks, David founded CTG in 1966 in Buffalo, NY, after a successful career with IBM. Their goal was to provide technology services to organizations that were facing the onset of the computer age. From 1966 until 1995, when he formally retired from the company, he played a vital role in CTG’s growth and development and had an exceptional ability to work with people to develop solutions and overcome obstacles. He also served on CTG’s Board of Directors from 1966 until 1996. He was called back to serve as Executive Vice President in October 2001 and was an integral part of the company for the next six years. At the time of his re-appointment as Chairman of the Board, Randy Marks was delighted to have his fellow co-founder back. He remarked that David’s focus on the “people” side of the business was a crucial factor in CTG becoming one of the best places to work in the IT industry.
The vision that guided CTG’s business culture and operations when it was founded still holds true today. At his core, David was a people person and cared deeply about all of our employees. He was dedicated to client satisfaction and saw this as everyone’s responsibility regardless of their position in the company. He urged employees to be client-focused, energetic and committed professionals. David always saw the tremendous talent held by CTG’s employees as the company’s greatest asset. Today, with more than 3,800 employees worldwide, people are still the core of CTG as we continue to provide reliable technology services to clients across the globe.
