Ferdi Claes, Managing Director, HR, CTG Europe and a CTG employee for almost 25 years, explains his ultimate lesson learned.
At CTG, we strive to empower our employees to be ambassadors for CTG in everything they do, whether it’s when working at a client’s office or in their interactions with colleagues within the company. At CTG, we want to be reliable, not only for our customers but for our employees. We want to ensure that employees experience a great entrepreneurial atmosphere in which they can develop themselves and grow as much as possible. Overall, the lesson I learned at CTG is clear: go for it!
My life at CTG began 25 years ago. At that time, I started working as an experienced IT consultant with almost 10 years in IT on “my counter.” I’ve always been very interested in Human Resources and people-related topics, so a few years later, when I was asked if I would be interested in becoming a Competence Developer, I immediately accepted that new challenge. Going forward, I took advantage of the opportunities that crossed my path and interested me. I invested in developing strong relationships with my managers and colleagues. Face-to-face meetings were part of my personal development track and helped me to move forward. I learned that you need to connect with your colleagues as much as possible to develop personally and in order to contribute and create a rewarding corporate atmosphere.
And a rewarding atmosphere we have! CTG offers its employees the opportunity to grow, as well as the necessary tools required to develop new skills. But in the end, people need to take the initiative themselves. At a company like CTG, employees possess the key to success; the initiative is all that is required to ensure growth.
As CTG's HR director, I definitely work hard to connect with CTG employees and to listen to their needs. We ask our colleagues to always do the best they can for our clients, but it’s also important to protect and make sure that CTG’s value of ensuring that employees “enjoy what they do” is equally respected, and that we provide a rewarding and healthy place to work.
Good mental and physical health is essential in work and in private life. And CTG’s positive corporate culture supports our employees’ efforts to embrace and foster a healthy lifestyle. As an IT-company, we also recognize the importance of having engaged employees who love working at CTG. It’s no secret that happy employees produce great work.
For that reason, a healthy work-life balance is crucial. A positive point of view, and an equally positive work environment that fosters an enthusiastic view of the future leads not only to rewarding careers but rewarding lives. The fact that we’ve created such an environment at CTG is one of the reasons I believe it’s such a great place to work.
