CTG works with Hillrom's Excel Medical as a vendor for medical device integration (MDI) with Epic and Cerner. The technology captures patient data such as vital signs, respiratory parameters, cardiac measurements, etc., from medical devices and either stores the data until validated by the caregiver, or automatically populates the EHR. These features can be incorporated within the implementation of a new EHR or added on later. Generally we see some combination of the two with a limited scope at go-live and a roll out of additional devices and service areas later as budget and time permits.
CTG brings experts with deep knowledge in MDI and Epic/Cerner integration. We supply certified (Epic) EHR analysts in Bridges, Clinical Documentation, and others as needed. The CTG/Excel team works with the client and Epic/Cerner to assist in requirement gathering, scope definition, and budget construction. Once approved, we develop a project plan which is in alignment with the Epic/Cerner plan. CTG and Excel work together to install, connect, and test the hardware and gateways, then ensure that data is flowing accurately into the patient record as required. Concurrently with the installation, CTG analysts and report writers configure the interfaces, clinical documentation flowsheets, and reports per the client needs. We work with the client’s clinical and technical staff to ensure that all requirements are met and support the clients throughout go live on both the clinical and technical side, providing training, reporting overviews, and network/error monitoring and remediation.
