Favorite Song Right Now: My all-time favorite song is “If I Had a Million Dollars” by the Barenaked Ladies. This song just makes me happy when I hear it. My favorite song right now is “God’s Country” by Blake Shelton or really anything by Blake Shelton. I have a little crush on Blake!
Favorite Thing to do Outside of Work: Hang out at the hockey rink watching my two boys (RJ, 14 years old and Cole, 12 years old) play hockey and hang out with my “hockey family,” as I like to call them.
My alarm first goes off at 5 a.m. and I’m out of bed by 5:30 a.m. I like to get up before my boys, plus the house is so quiet. After shutting off my alarm, I of course check my phone for new text messages, email messages, and Google news. I also check Facebook, which is my guilty pleasure. I drive my boys to school each morning and then head to the corporate office listening to my latest audiobook or podcast.
Once at work, I set up my day, check out my calendar, and pick my top three must-get-done tasks for the day. Every morning I also look at the prior day’s submittals, interviews, and new reqs that have come in. I try to make sure things are moving along as needed.
After lunch, I check to see where my top-three tasks are in process. My goal is always to get those done—a lot of the time that’s a struggle as my day is always changing. Then, I try to see what other hot tasks have popped up that day that need to get done. I try to spend my afternoon checking in with my clients, for example, getting answers to questions recruiters have, setting up meetings, or just checking in to see what’s new.
My evenings consist of me being an Uber driver for my two boys. We are either heading to hockey or lacrosse, or dropping or picking them up from a friend’s house. My parents also recently moved close to us, so I also try to drop in to see them whenever I have a free night, which doesn’t happen often enough.
I started at CTG as a Senior Recruiter, moved into a Recruiting Team Lead role, then a Recruiting Manager role, and most recently took a leap over to the Delivery side as a Senior Account Manager. CTG is by far the best company I have ever worked for. During my time at CTG, I’ve gotten married, had my two sons, RJ and Cole, and met and worked with amazing people. The culture at CTG is what has kept me here so long. I still wake up every morning wanting to go to work. I am so lucky to be surrounded by such intelligent and career driven people. Someone referred to me as a “CTG Lifer.” It took me back a bit, but after thinking about it, I am a CTG Lifer and hope to be here until I retire.
My favorite quote is, “The only way to do great work is to love what you do” by Steve Jobs. Lucky for me, I love what I do!
