Facilitation is a core capability within CTG and is fundamental to its other services. It invariably supports the approaches used within the other service families. Innovation techniques are integrated within CTG’s approach to facilitation in order to aid creative thinking. In addition, CTG provides a set of services that enable its clients to develop their own competence in this discipline.

  • The Facilitated Workshop: The cornerstone of CTG’s modus operandi is the Facilitated Workshop. CTG has specialised in facilitation since its inception in the 1980s, when it was introduced as the major technique used for Joint Application Development. CTG has refined the technique and its application over the years, and recommends facilitation for numerous business and IT situations where consensus building within a group is essential, for example:
    • Strategic planning
    • Process improvement
    • Requirements analysis
    • Problem solving
    • Project definition

The primary benefits of the facilitated workshop remain improved communication, productivity and ownership of results.

  • Innovation: In support of its basic facilitative approach, CTG has added a range of innovation techniques to its repertoire in order to promote creative thinking around problems and their solutions. Innovation techniques, such as coloured hat thinking and comic strip envisioning, help to stimulate 'out-of box' thought processes.

  • Implementation: In addition to facilitated workshops and innovation techniques being integral to the delivery of the majority of CTG’s services, CTG offers these capabilities to its clients in the following ways:

    • Facilitation Support/Teams: CTG can provide a facilitator and workshop analyst to plan, run and document a client workshop to achieve a specific objective.

    • Centre of Excellence: CTG offers a design and implementation service to set up an in-house facilitation capability for clients wishing to become self-sufficient.

    •  Training: CTG offers two courses on a public and private basis:

      • Facilitated Session Leader Training: A four-day course that teaches the skills needed to lead a workshop. The course is intensive and combines two days of learning with two full days of practical work.

      • Innovation Trek: A two-day course that enables participants to learn and practise a range of innovation techniques, for use either within facilitated workshops or during daily business activity.
