CTG’s business assessment services help clients identify the need for change. Since they support clients in the definition—or redefinition—and alignment of their business and IT strategies, they are particularly valuable when clients need to respond to key changes in their business environments and markets. CTG’s approach to business assessment is based on a holistic review that addresses strategic, process, organisational, and technological (SPOT) issues:
  • Strategy Planning: Usually operating at the programme or departmental level, CTG’s strategic planning consultancy services address strategic initiatives within both business and IT organisations. They help clients formulate or review strategy by assessing current and future positions, identifying options, and making recommendations on process, organisational, and technical issues.

  • Process Improvement: Based on CTG’s proprietary methodology for process analysis and subsequent design or redesign, this service offers a structured approach to understanding, re-thinking, and improving processes critical to the successful operation of the business. Improvements are aimed at achieving greater efficiency and/or effectiveness. The approach—which features the use of a standard, formalised suite of investigative and analysis techniques and documentation formats—is facilitative and collaborative. Services are scalable to corporate, departmental, or individual process levels.

  • SPOT Assessment: This generic service is designed for clients who wish to review elements of their business and/or IT organisations and infrastructures. The review is an appropriate starting point for organizations embarking on major change programmes or experiencing significant change in the business environment, the advent of a merger or acquisition, or the need to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness. The assessment examines the four major interlocking elements of the current and planned business models: strategy, process, organisation, and technology. CTG’s approach includes a review of each of the SPOT elements from three perspectives: commercial, technical, and external. The service is facilitative and collaborative, culminating in a baseline review workshop in which the client is encouraged to use the objective perspective provided by CTG to challenge existing internal perspectives and, as a result, identify options and recommendations for improvement and change.

  • e-SPOTcheck Assessment: This e-service is aimed at organisations looking to take advantage of the e-business world as well as those that may already have taken their first steps and are now looking for confirmation of their approach. The service offers a structured and repeatable approach to understanding and clearly defining the current business model and evaluating how well it is positioned to take full advantage of Internet technologies.
